The purpose of the Background Document brief is to: (a) summarise key information on the available monitoring instruments in the countries of SEE, which will aid the forthcoming analysis of corruption trends in each country and the elaboration of the national Corruption Assessment Reports; (b) focus on the corruption and anticorruption monitoring instruments and availability of public data in the countries of SEE; (c) present the main findings of 1-2 most recent prominent national reports and provide some statistical data as examples, and (d) serve as background material for discussion at the forthcoming events.
