On 26-27 January 2016 the Directorate-General for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) and TACSO organized a regional conference in Brussels, dedicated to the sustainability of IPA networks. Six SELDI members attended the event – Ms Daniela Mineva, Research Fellow at the Center for the Study of Democracy, SELDI Secretariat, Ms Brunilda Kosta, Researcher at the Albanian Center for Economic Research, Ms Leila Bicakcic, Director of the Center for Investigative Reporting, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ms Emina Nuredinoska, Head of Department at the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation, Ms Biljana Pejović, General Secretary of the Center for Democratic Transition, Montenegro and Dr. Itir Akdogan, Research Communication Director at the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation.
During the conference, 18 IPA networks, including SELDI, shared and discussed their plans, opportunities and obstacles in achieving sustainability of their outcomes. The participants exchanged ideas on the continuation of the established coalitions beyond the timeframe of the current projects. In conclusion, the networks suggested actions to be taken by DG NEAR in assuring recognition and sustainability of the CSOs’ efforts devoted to advocacy and policy reforms in the Western Balkans and Turkey.
