Organized trainings for the SELDI Small Grants Programmme

The MCIC team recently organized a series of training sessions for pre-selected organizations invited to submit full applications in response to the regional Call for Proposals for the SELDI Small Grants Programme “Financial Support for Grassroots and Youth CSOs with Outreach to Citizens” (Reference no. 10-46/1-2024)

The call for project proposals, published on June 17, set a submission deadline for concept notes on August 1, 2024, at 16:00 CET. By this deadline, 74 concept notes were submitted by organizations across the region. Following a thorough assessment by the evaluation committee, 43 of these proposals were pre-selected, and the respective organizations were invited to submit full applications by November 15, 2024, at 16:00 CET.

With the aim of supporting civil society organizations in the preparation of strong project proposals and strengthening of their capacities not only for this call, but also for other future professional engagements, MCIC team, in the name of the Network for leadership and integrity in Southeast Europe (SELDI) organized trainings for the preparation of complete applications and preparation of project budgets.

On 24 and 29 October 2024, expert Suncica Sazdovska conducted a full-day trainings for the preparation of full project applications which were followed by more than 60 participants’ representatives of the pre-selected organisations. During the trainings the participants had the opportunity to learn about the phases of the project cycle, developing of project ideas, defining the logic of intervention and indicators, as well as received expert guidance on crafting quality project proposals. During the trainings the participants could receive concrete instructions on how to fill-in the form for a complete application for the call in question. The trainings were interactive, with the possibility for group work and work on concrete examples. The participants had the opportunity to ask questions and to participate in discussions related to the topics of the trainings.

On October 31, Jasmina Ristovska, Coordinator of the Regional Anticorruption Network program, conducted a training session on budget proposal preparation. The training was attended by 27 representatives, who received information and instructions regarding the general principles of grant contracts funded by the European Union, the rules defined in the SELDI Small Grants Program Guide for Applicants, as well as clarifications on the structure of the budget and its components. Additionally, the training provided detailed guidance and examples on how to properly prepare the budget and all its parts.

All the trainings were conducted on the Zoom platform. The participation of organizations in these training will in no way affect the evaluation process of the full applications.

Additionally, in accordance with the call’s guidelines, organizations had the opportunity to submit questions for this phase of the call no later than November 1, 2024. Download the answers to the questions received within the designated deadline.

The SELDI Small Grants Program aims to strengthen the contribution of civil society organizations from the target countries to the fight against corruption and their inclusion in advocacy and impact cycle of SELDI policies, through financial support to civil society organizations, including grassroots and youth organizations, active against corruption.

The program is part of the project “Civil society for good governance and anticorruption in Southeast Europe: Capacity Building for proof-based advocacy, impact on the policies and citizen’s activism (SELDI.net)” financed by the European Union.
