On 28-30 April 2015 the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM), Macedonia held an international conference: Exchange of EU Best Practices in Anticorruption Monitoring on Local Level. Ms. Daniela Mineva, Reserch Fellow at the Economic Program of the Center for the Study of Democracy, Bulgaria and SELDI Secretariat presented the key findings of the SELDI Regional Anti-corruption report. She focused on the need for further enhancing the local governance transparency and creation of mechanisms for civil society participation in the decision making.
The CRPM experts presented and discussed with representatives of local authorities the main findings of the LOTUS project. Mr. Aleksandar Cekov, Researcher, CRPM underlined that, according tot he data only 7% of the municipalities publish on their websites information on the concluded public procurement contacts, and only 9% publish data on budget expenses such as kindergartens and parks. He recommended that more comprehensive information is provided to the citizens, which will it turn increase their trust in the local institutions.
