Dr. Hansjörg Brey
Dr. Hansjörg Brey is the Executive Director of the Südosteuropa-Gesellschaft (Southeast Europe Association – SOG) in Munich, Germany. He is also the Editor-in-chief of the SOG’s renowned bi-monthly journal “Südosteuropa Mitteilungen” and closely follows the contemporary developments in South-eastern Europe, inclusively of Moldova. Dr. Brey held academic positions at the Munich Technical University and held different lectures in Germany, Austria, France, Italy, USA, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia and Romania. He studied human geography, sociology and cultural anthropology, and holds Ph.D. from the Munich Technical University. Dr. Brey has a wide research experience in the field of processes of transformation and stabilization of Southeast European Countries – politics, economic development, population, regional problems in Cyprus, Turkey and Greece. The results of his research activity are reflected in his publications that include several books and many articles on the Cyprus question, the demographic and economic development in Cyprus, the European integration of Cyprus, and about the relations of Greece and Turkey and on the countries of the Western Balkans.
